Park West School

Scooters...skateboards...and bicycles

School Policy for use of scooters, skateboards, and bicycles on school property during school hours:

  • Bicycles are never permitted to be used on school property during school hours.  If you ride your bicycle to school you must dismount when you reach the school grounds and walk it. Bicycle racks are provided at the front of the school.  Students are encouraged to secure bicycles to the rack using a lock.  Students who bring their bicycles to school do so at their own risk.  Park West School is not responsible for damage or theft of bicycles.

  • Students in grades P - 3 may NOT use scooters or skateboards on school property during school hours (this includes recess and lunch periods) due to lack of space.

  • Students in grades 4 - 6 MAY use scooters and skateboards during recess at the back corner of the parking lot on the east side of the building (the side adjacent to the linear walking trail).

  • Students in grades 4 - 9 may use scooters and skateboards during the lunch period at the back corner of the parking lot on the east side of the building (the side adjacent to the linear walking trail).

  • Scooters and skateboards may NOT be used at the front of the building (sidewalk, traffic loop, main entrance, etc.).

  • Helmets must be worn at all times if using scooters or skateboards on school property.
